Parade preparations have begun for St Patrick's day

WITH St Patrick's Day looming large on the horizon, preparations for the Mallow parade are already well underway.

The events organising committee has issued an open invitation to the local community to help make it a colourful and entertaining celebration of our heritage and culture.

The theme of this year's parade, which will take place on Monday, March 17, will be 'Let Me Entertain You, Mallow 2014.'

Committee member Mary O'Brien said they wanted schools, groups and organisations from across the Mallow area to participate in the parade and make it a vibrant and community focussed event.

"We encourage groups to introduce an element of entertainment to their group as they parade through the town. Prizes will be awarded for entertainment value," said Ms O'Brien.

The parade will assemble at the Town Park from 2pm for the parade which will get underway at 2.30pm sharp.

Each participant must have their own insurance a copy of which would be carried on the day for inspection purposes.

Any information that participates would like to have called out from the viewing platform must be forwarded to Ms O'Brien at 5 Emmet Street or by email at on or before March 15.

"We thank people for their participation in past years parade and look forward to meeting with people and enjoying the entertainment on show this year," said Ms O'Brien.
