Mecca on song
Well known Mallow writer and poet Mecca Barrett launched her book of poems, 'Blackwater Song', to a full attendance at Mallow Library last week.
Mecca is renowned for her love of writing and she is also a great follower of Irish traditional music and song. Mecca returned home some 13 years ago after living for many years in London.
The book consists of over 50 poems which pay glowing and special tributes to her life. Guests poets were also present to read her work which included Ronnie McGinn, Pat Connolly, Celine Cremin, Eily McCarthy, Margaret Fenton Doyle, Kevin Fitzgerald, Lilliano Ince and Michael Kelly.
