Duhallow national schools prepare for Scór na bPaistí fiesta of talents

Duhallow national school kids are looking ahead to participating in the highly popular divisional Scór na bPaistí cultural orientated competitions.

A programme of activity announced by the Duhallow Scór Committee heard plaudits extended to Kanturk Credit Union for their ongoing generous sponsorship and association towards enhancing the cultural wing of the GAA promoted itinerary in music, song and dance.

Chairman Liam Buckley thanked the continued involvement of Kanturk Credit Union and encouraged the participation of all schools and clubs within the division in a full and comprehensive programme catering for both individual and team members.

The extensive schedule focuses on figure/set dancing, solo singing, recitation, novelty act, instrumental music, ballad group and question time. Confined to national school children, Duhallow dates confirmed are three semi-finals down for decision beginning in Cullen on Friday, February 8 at 7.30pm with participants drawn from Cullen, Millstreet, Dromagh, Derinagree, Rathcoole, Tullylease and Cloughoula.

The second semi-final in Rockchapel on Saturday, February 9 at 7.30pm features Rockchapel, Kiskeam, Kanturk, Meelin, Knockaclarig, Ballydesmond, Kilbrin and Lismire.

Boherbue hosts the concluding semi-final on Sunday, February 9 (2pm) and involved are Boherbue, Newmarket, Ballyhass, Knocknagree, Lyre, Banteer, Kilcorney and Hollymount.

The divisional finals for the quiz, recitation and sketch take place in Lismire on Friday, February 15 with the remainder of the programme pencilled in for the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk on Sunday, February 24 commencing at 2pm. Closing date for receipt of entries is Thursday, January 31; with the entries accepted by Duhallow Scór secretary Julie O'Connor.

Meanwhile, the 50th Duhallow Senior Scór Finals go ahead in Cullen Community Centre on Friday, January 25 at 7.30pm with a full programme promised from competing clubs from throughout the division. 

On Sunday next, Boherbue Figure Dancers along with Katie O'Sullivan(Cullen) and the Cullen Ballad Group participate in the Munster Scór na nÓg Finals in Cappoquin.
