Comic night is all for the better

Sheila Fitzgerald

'For Better, For Worse' a three act Comedy Drama had audiences doubled over with laughter over four nights when Kilbrin GAA Club hosted the Jimmy Keary play in their local Community Centre last weekend.

Club Secretary Margaret O' Callaghan said there was no seat left at 8pm each night and she paid tribute to Vinnie Hayes, Tim Lynch, Edwin Casey, Ronan O' Sullivan, Helen Bryne, Angela O' Flynn Lyons, Sharon O' Reilly, Una Cremin and Celine Hayes, the very talented local cast who brought the house down each night.

"This play had people going home laughing - talking about Gabriel's photoshoot, Lucy's fainting spells, Miriam's hair, faith healers, councillors, Chrissie's shopping and Lourdes Water" Margaret said.

The show was produced by Celine Hayes, with set designers John Corkery, Kieran O' Sullivan, Tom O'Riordan, John Sheahan and Ronan O'Sullivan doing a fantastic job on the stage sets. Ellen Hayes looked after the lighting while stage managers Brid O'Riordan and Denise Sheill ensured that everything went according to plan throughout the weekend.

Kilbrin GAA Chairman Vinnie Hayes thanked everyone who supported the fundraiser. "The importance of a GAA Club in the community cannot be overstated, particularly in this day and age" Vinnie said.

"I pay tribute to this amazing cast and crew whose dedication and commitment was second to none, and also thank the Community Council for their help in preparing for this production."

Organisers also thanked their sponsors and all who supported the show.
