'Caught on the Hop' has crowds flocking to the Glen Theatre
The Glen Theatre Drama Group remains one of North Cork's most successful organisations, and its current hilarious production, 'Caught on the Hop', continues to delight audiences from across the South West Region.
Since Banteer Drama group originated in 1990 and took up base in the Glen Theatre from 1997, all involved have contributed to a fantastic success story.
The venue's intimate setting adds to the surroundings, as confirmed on its current production that's winning the admiration of theatregoers.
The group prides itself on encouraging new talent in all aspects of drama production and working with experienced hands.
Over the years, the Banteer group has staged a wide variety of plays from Irish authors such as Sean O'Casey and John B Keane, to the likes of Ray Cooney and Derek Benfield.
Their current production is written by Benfield and directed by Dave Nagle and Tadhg O Keeffe.
The farce centres on frenetic confusion of mistake identities. Indeed the two-act play is adorned with priceless comedy that's generated from a confusion of mixed identities, plots, counter-plots and diverse characters.
Cast members include Tadhg O'Keeffe, Jimmy Noonan, Tim Stuart, Martin O' Riordan, Denny O' Connell, Cathy Bailey, Noreen O'Connell, Mary Cronin and Eileen Cotter.
Working behind the scenes are crew members Maureen O Brien, Mary Ellis, Juliet Bailey, Kevin Angland and Jimmy O'Connell.
The good news is the show returns this Saturday and Sunday at 8.30pm with booking advisable at the Glen Theatre Box Office at 029-56239.
