Millstreet Tidy Towns Association rightly earned the plaudits on securing runner up place in its category to the 2015 Anti Litter Challenge.

Dunmanway landed first place with Millstreet ahead of third positioned Blarney.

Spokesperson Áine Murphy expressed delight at the committed work and effort delivered by people on volunteering to support Millstreet's efforts into this competition this year and their endeavours had really paid off.

Runner up place comes with a prize fund of €1200 which will go a long way to help Millstreet Tidy Towns in a series of projects with their annual spend running up to €10,000.

"All involved can be very proud of yourselves, even the smallest effort is so much appreciated.

"Keep up the good work, we would also like to thank Cork County Council, sponsors of the annual competition. First place next year is on the horizon", said Áine.

" The excitement is building, bring on the Tidy Town results and lest we forget the Best Commercial and Best Residential Competition the Millstreet Tidy Town are running this year".
