This week saw a very quiet time on the playing field, between games being called off due to the recent bad weather and games off because of the bank holiday weekend there were only a handful of games down for decision.

The first team's scheduled away game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch while the second team's game was off due to Oscar Traynor commitments. The youths team fixture also fell foul of the weather leaving the third team as the only Senior side to play a fixture.

They recorded a back to back win over East Coast Albion to make it three wins on the bounce to consolidate their fifth place position in the league. A brace of goals from Kevin Coady and singles from Niall O'rourke and Jason Waters gave them a 4-2 victory.

All the girls teams had the weekend off, the U-8 A's drew 2-2 away to Ashford Rovers B with goals from Tiernan O'neill and Glen Broughan.

The 10A's picked up three good points away to Greystones Utd A with a 3-1 win, Daniel Tarcevskis, Paul Marah and Nathan O'sullivan were the goal scorers. The U-10B'S were involved in an eight goal thriller away to Wolfe Tone A and came home with a share of the spoils in a 4-4 draw with goals from Jack Meaney, Tom O'shea, Joe O'shea and Rhuain Doyle.

The 11A's kept up their title charge with an impressive 1-0 win away to Ardmore Rovers courtesy of a Sean Farrell goal while the 11B's went down 4-0 away to Avonmore.

The third round draws for the various National Cup competitions involving our junior teams are as follows: Under 11 Menton Seery Cup - Mullingar Ath. v Wicklow Rovs. A; Under 12 Norton Cup - Edenderry Town v Wicklow Rovs. A; Under 14 Goodson Cup - Wicklow Rovs. A v Abbeyleix Ath; Under 15 Evans Cup - Wicklow Rovs. A v Arlington FC.

This weekend sees the girls return to league action with a home fixture against Tombrack Utd at 11 am.

After having the last two weeks off, the team needs to focus, and put in the effort on the training pitch to be back ready for the games ahead. Training continues every Tuesday and Friday night at 7pm.

This week's €100 winner in the 210 club is Sabrina Darcy, c/o Kerry Foods ;

Winning numbers 14 and 28

We only had four teams in action last weekend and from these games we recorded three wins and one defeat.

Finally it happened - what you may ask - well the under-8's got their first win of the season and yet again it was a high scoring affair.

7-6 was the final score in a game that was action packed and where players on both sides got out on the pitch did there best and enjoyed their game.

Bobby Dowling has started to get a taste for scoring as he found the net four times, regular scorers Luke Breen and Darragh Heffernan notched one apiece while debutant Nathan Murray also found the score sheet. Well done everybody.

The under-11's also found the net seven times at home to Ardmore Rovers.

James Crean led the way with a hattrick, Ciara Dease scored twice and there was 1 goal for Ciaran Keogh and Jordan Butler.

The under-14's kept their 100% record with another away win with a 7-2 win against Wolfe Tone. Dillon Carthy scored another hat-trick, Sean Carthy scored a brace and both Ryan Taylor and Michael Coghlan scored a goal each.

Cracking game in Newtown between the under 17's girl's and Shelbourne in a game that finished 6-4 to the away side. Newtown led 4-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Becky Cassin, Amy Murphy, Cliona Crammond and an own-goal. With a little more care Newtown maybe should have had a couple of more goals but chances went a begging from good scoring positions.

Shelbourne were always dangerous and would have probably felt they themselves could have had a couple of goals in the first half.

Circumstances didn't go for our girls in the second half when three key players had to retire from the field of play due to illness/injury and this was to have an impact in the second half.

The visitors scored a second goal early in the 2nd half and this gave them momentum.

This momentum gave Shelbourne the opportunity to take the lead and go on and win the game.

Saying all that our girls plugged away but it wasn't to be. On the day there were a number of fine displays including from Michelle Murphy, Jane and Rose Fagan, Georgina Canavan and Laura O'neill. On the day we can take loads of positives from our first half display but from the overall game we can learn from this experience.

New players are welcome for all age groups for both boys and girl's teams. Membership fees for the new season remain the same as last year, one child €70, 2 children €120 and three children is €150.

A minimum €20 per child is required for membership before the start of the season with the balance of membership to be paid on or before Monday 14th November (extended by a further week). Any players not fully paid up by this date will not be permitted to play. Club shorts and socks will be supplied to all players the cost of which is included in the membership of the club. The fixtures for the weekending Sat.29th /Sun.30th October 2011 are as follows: Under-8's away to Ardmore Rovers ko Saturday to be confirmed; Under-10's at home to Rathnew ko Saturday at 11am; Under-11's away to St. Anthonys ko Saturday to be confirmed; Under-12's away to Enniskerry ko Saturday at 12.30pm; Under-14's - fixture to be confirmed; Under-15's away to Greystones ko Saturday at 1pm; Under15 Girl's - fixture to be confirmed; Under17 Girl's - fixture to be confirmed

Fundraising is a very important part of every club and we are no different. Unfortunately we had to cancel last Saturday's Golf Classic due to weather conditions and this event will be refixed at a later date (details will be in future notes).

Only one player from the club celebrates their birthday this coming week and she is Karen Douglas from the under 17's.

Happy birthday Karen from all at Newtown Juniors F.C.

The club would like to extend their condolences to Dave Cassin and his family on the sad passing of Dave's dad and Becky's grandfather last week. May he rest in peace.

Last weekend's heavy rain meant that our pitch was unplayable this weekend so therefore the under-17's home game with Cabinteely Boys was cancelled.

However both the 19's and the first team saw some action.

The first team travelled to Brittas and came back with all three points courtesy of a Jason Fitzsimons goal in a 1-nil win.

If our under-19's could turn some of their draws into victory's they would be challenging at the top of the table.

They travelled to Dublin to take on Liffey Valley Rangers and you guessed it they drew again!

This time it was 3-all in an action packed game. Goalscorers for Newtown were Daire Kileen, Hughie Mcdaid and Sean Odlum.

The following are the fixtures for the week-ending Sat.5th/sun.6th Nov.2011,

First team away to Wolfe Tone Celtic, KO Sunday at 2.30pm; Second team at home to Arklow Town A, KO on Sunday at 11.30am; Under-17's away to Dundrum, KO Sunday to be confirmed; Under-19's Fixture to be confirmed

Fixtures etc can be viewed on the new league website

In our club draw the winner was Cian Kelly who received €100. Well done Cian and thanks to everyone who is supporting the draw.
