Hollywood thrash travelling Carnew
Another rather one-sided match in Division 1 at Hollywood where the home side proved too strong for Carnew; this result comes as no surprise, Hollywood have been playing well for some months now but were not getting the results or putting any points on the board.
That was always going to change and when it did it was luckless Carnew that were on the receiving end.
A Tony Hannon goal midway through the first half sent Hollywood on their way and with Thomas Burke and teenager, Stephen Kearney also finding their range with great ease. Mick O'Rourke's men went in leading by 1-10 to 0-2 at half time.
Tony Hannon found the net again midway through the second half to close the door on any hope Carnew may have had of staging a comeback.
Hannon was back to something like the form he displayed on Mick O'Dwyer's team and was top scorer again in this match.
The result sees Hollywood draw level with Carnew on four points but a better score difference puts them in front on the table.
Unless there is a big change in form as the second round progresses it looks as if Carnew will accompany Kiltegan to Division 1B for next season - ironically two of the clubs that are trying to keep football and hurling going at the top level.
Hollywood scorers: Tony Hannon 2-5; Thomas Burke 0-4; Stephen Kearney 0-3; Mikey Healy 0-2; Kevin Murphy, Joe Glennon and Harry Wilson 0-1 each.
