Balto move joint top of Division 1
BALTINGLAS moved up to join Blessington on top of the Division 1 table in the SFL with this win over the home side at Kiltegan on Tuesday.
In addition the 12-point margin at the end did a lot to improve their score difference as well.
Kiltegan, without their county players, are only a shadow of the team they once were but they still battled to the end.
A string of points by Adam Fleming, Brian Lord and Joey Kelly got Baltinglass off to a good start and when Henry Sinnott blasted home the first goal of the match they were really on their way.
Full-forward, Keith Furlong, got Kiltegan on the score sheet with a goal in the 13th minute and when Ciaran Fitzgerald sent over two points and Furlong and P.J. Daly added two more there appeared to be some hope for the home side. Half time - Baltinglass 1-7; Kiltegan 1-4.
Points by Brian Cullen, Adrian Keogh and substitute, Anthony Furlong, kept Kiltegan in the hunt for a time in the second half but when Baltinglass won a penalty and Joey Kelly blasted Fergal Harmon's net in the 45th minute it was all over. Adam Fleming got another goal for Baltinglass almost on the call of time.
Scorers: Baltinglass: Joey Kelly 1-3; Adam Fleming 1-1; Henry Sinnott 1-0; Brian Lord 0-4; James Sheerin 0-2; Jason Kennedy and Tommy Cullen 0-1 each.
Kiltegan: Keith Furlong 1-1; Cathal Fitzgerald 0-2; P.J. Daly, Brian Cullen, Ardian Keogh and Anthony Furlong 0-1 each.
