Vandal owns up to damaging trees planted at Burnaby Park

A vandal who damaged three new trees in Burnaby Park in Greystones has come forward to offer payment for their replacement. The damage was discovered on the morning of last Tuesday, June 26.

A spokesperson for Greystones Municipal District said that it was very disappointing to see the vandalism to three new cherry trees, which were completely broken.

The trees were recently planted Greystones Tidy Towns volunteers and Greystones Municipal District staff who continue to work in partnership with Greystones 2020 and local residents to enhance the area.

The person responsible for the damage confessed to a resident of the area.

The remains of the trees were removed the day the damage was discovered and they will be replaced when suitable trees are ready in a couple of months.
