Tributes to McLoughlin at final meeting
It was the final Greystones Municipal District meeting of Cllr Grainne McLoughlin last week, and Cathaoirleach Nicola Lawless paid tribute to her contribution.
'We can't let it go without noting all of your hard work and dedication to the communities of Greystones and Kilcoole,' said Cllr Lawless. She said that Grainne has worn 'many different hats' including getting involved with organising festivals and events localy.
'It's amazing that anyone puts themselves forward for the position of public office,' said Cllr Lawless. 'I wish you and Dermot the very best for the future, and your wedding! Thank you from all of us and thank you from the community.'
Grainne said that it had been a pleasure and a privilege to be a member of the council. She said that she would not be disappearing off the face of the earth and she thanked each of her colleagues for their support.
'I hope all five of you get around the table again, this is a functioning council,' she said. 'We have the maturity to work together.'
She thanked the district manager Michael Nicholson, District administrator Myra Porter, Kay Coughlan and all the staff.
Michael Nicholson said, on behalf of the staff, that it had been a pleasure to work with Grainne. 'It is fair to say you will be missed,' he said. 'Your work rate has been phenomenal.'
District administrator Myra Porter wished all of the members good luck in the forthcoming election.
