Brother and sister duo Simon and Gemma Harris enjoyed a joint birthday party at the Parkview Hotel in Newtownmountkennedy last Friday night.

Simon turned 21 while his younger sister Gemma was celebrating her 18th birthday party.

The two, who are from Greystones, share a birthday three years apart but have never minded as they get on very well.

Their parents Mary and Bart and younger brother Adam were all there with the birthday girl and boy to wish them many happy returns. Their grandmother Ann Cahil was also delighted to be a part of the proceedings.

Around 400 people came along and partied until late as their friend Ed Keating took over the responsibility of DJ for the night.

Friends from work, school and college as well as neighbours came out in their droves for the double birthday party.

Gemma's best friend Aisling Delaney played a big part in organising the event along with Mary and Bart who all made a tremendous effort to make it a night to remember.

Gemma recently did her Leaving Cert. and is studying event management at DIT, while Simon studies journalism and French at the same institution but has taken a year out to work as a parliamentary assistant to Fine Gael Senate leader Frances Fitzgerald.
