CANINES brought their two-legged friends to Greystones recently for a fun dog show in aid of Dogs Trust Ireland.

The event was put on behind the Beach House by the Friends of Merlin organisation, which runs the Bray and Greystones dog shows as well as a sponsored walk in Laragh in aid of Dogs Trust.

A spokeswoman for the organisation thanked the volunteers for helping out on the day, as well as judges and everyone who came along and took part.

This was the second year for Friends of Merlin to hold the event, which proved a huge hit with the pooches and their owners.

There was great fun for everyone, with classes including golden oldies, over eights, and best dog led by a child as well as agility.

The animal lovers group Friends of Merlin is led by Jon Jameson, who has run the Bray Dog Show for over a decade and the Greystones Dog Show for 22 years.

Merlin was rescued about ten weeks old and lived a long and happy life in the Wicklow countryside. In his lifetime, Merlin was well known in the County Wicklow area through his educational school visits and parties for students teaching them about animal welfare and the life of a rescue dog.
