A KICKBOXING coach who sexually abused a 16-year-old schoolgirl treated her 'like a piece of property' Wicklow Circuit Court heard last week.

David Hermine (39) who is now living in Kilbride, Co. Wicklow but was previously living at 39 Dublin Road, Bray was convicted of three counts of anal sex and six counts of oral sex with a child under the age of 17 years at various locations including the young girl's home, his apartment on Dublin Road and St. Peter's National School, Bray, between September 22, 2006 and October 15, 2006.

He was found not guilty of engaging in anal sex with the girl at his apartment on September 30, 2006.

For the state Paul Murray, BL, said the victim met Hermine, a native of Martinique, in 2005 when she was in Transition Year, aged 15.

A 19-year-old, who was also in the kickboxing class, said on one occasion the teenage girl went to the toilet and Hermine went in the same direction a short time later. He did not see either of them again before he left the class.

The girl's aunt and uncle also gave evidence saying that during Halloween 2006 the victim came to stay with them.

She had a very bad demeanour, her uncle said, saying she was clearly upset about something. During her stay she told them about the abuse.

Under cross examination from Brendan Grehan, SC, for Hermine, her uncle said she implied there had been 'more of a relationship than teacher and student'.
