A well-implemented hoax saw the townspeople of Bray aghast last Wednesday morning, at the implication a sex shop would be opening in the town.

Not since the great head-shop scandal of 2008, or the opening of 'Utopia products' some time in the 90s was there as much controversy over the opening of a retail premises.

Unlike both of those establishments though, this was fake. A poster went up on the window of a former coffee shop on the main street, advertising the imminent opening of an adult shop.

As well as a lingerie-wearing woman, the poster said that the shop would be aptly entitled 'two in the pink'.

'Is it a snooker hall?' wondered one local resident enquiring on Facebook's Bray Open Forum. Others asked when the shop would be opening, stating they were 'asking for a friend'. Largely, people objected to its location on the Main Street and beside a sweet shop. By afternoon the poster, which had been taped to the outside of the glass, was gone, and the ruse uncovered.
