Festive cheer at Five Loaves on Christmas Day
Around 25 diners attended WH Five Loaves in Bray for dinner on Christmas Day, with a team of volunteers on-hand to serve up the meals.
Centre manager Tom Gordon said that they were overwhelmed with offers from people offering help, with helpers then selected on a first-come basis.
'We had something like 20 or 30 people offer to help,' said Tom. 'It's never really happened like that before.'
They opened at 10 like a normal day, and provided breakfast, and the usual access to tea and coffee, showers, changes of clothes and whatever else people needed.
The meals were provided by the Knights of Columbanus, with cooks in the kitchen rustling up some extra trimmings. Everyone had plenty to eat and a cosy environment for the day.
Some of those having dinner at Five Loaves would have been staying in the cold weather initiative emergency hostel nearby.
Everyone enjoyed the day, volunteers and clients alike, with everyone chatting and having fun.
