Countywide culture celebration planned for Easter Monday
Diversity and Irish culture will be celebrated at venues across the county on Easter Monday, April 17.
Cruinniú na Cásca, a Creative Ireland initiative presented by Wicklow County Council, will feature fun for all members of the family with free events across the arts and heritage fields.
Russborough House will kick the day off with performances of 'The Quiet Tree and the Creatures of Whistleberry Forest' for children aged two to five years, followed by readings by Bisto Award Winning children's author Julian Gough for children aged six to nine.
The day will then be topped off with a family concert by the much loved foot-stomping KÍLA. Throughout the day, there will also be face-painting, balloon making and many more surprises in store.
In Kilruddery House, children's authors Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick and Michael Emberley will read, play and entertain to start the day. There will be a performance of 'WOOLFE' by Replay Theatre Company for six to nine year olds and Maitiú Ó Casaide and Eithne Ní Cáthain will perform a special concert for families from 4 p.m..
Fresh from a nationwide tour, the Booka Brass Band will close the night with a performance not to be missed.
Bray Jazz will also host a performance in The Well in Bray on the night while the Calary Music Festival will feature young gifted performers. Shekina Sculpture Garden in Glenmalure will open its doors from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and there will be performances from Music Generation Wicklow musicians in the courtyard of Russborough House.
All events are ticketed and require booking in advance. Visit wicklow.ie to see the full programme or www.wicklow-county-arts.eventbrite.com/ for booking.
