YOU CAN NOW BID on ebay for the chance to crush Sean Fitzpatrick's BMW.
The car was sold to recycling company National Recycling before Christmas, as part of bankruptcy proceedings against the disgraced Greystones Banker. Last Friday they towed it from his Burnaby Laws home.
The bidding to pulverise the vehicle stood at €5,100 at time of going to press, with 39 bids and six days left in the auction.
Calling it 'Ireland's most infamous car', the company that paid €1,234.56 for the vehicle is selling the right to push the button in the Clondalkin recycling plant that will crush the car. RTE's Mooney show will air the moment the highest bidder gets to destroy a three series 1992 BMW.
When it was towed at 10 a.m. last Friday morning, the car had no tax, insurance or NCT. Mould was growing from the seat and the engine would not start.
On the bright side, all money raised will go to the Samaritans. As an added incentive, the highest bidder will also win a €150 voucher for the Pichet restaurant on Trinity Street. 'Play your part in history,' urge the sellers. 'Anglo Irish Bank is costing the taxpayer billions. This is your chance to crush this cursed car which is the symbol of all that was wrong with the Celtic Tiger.' Bidding ends at 3.20 p.m. on Monday January 24 and the auction winner will be announced on The Mooney Show on RTE Radion One on the same day.
