Boxing star gives Coddle's single a huge thumbs-up

KATIE TAYLOR has given her seal of approval to local band Coddle's single supporting the boxer on her Olympic quest.

The single by the Bray band was released in May and has since been endorsed by the sporting hero. It is for sale in Tesco Bray, Ballybrack, Greystones and Wicklow from today ( Wednesday), with half of the profits going to Bray Lakers.

This limited edition CD has a copy of Katie's signature on each single and some bonus tracks included. The anthem is called 'Katie Taylor Ireland's Boxing Legend'.

'On the second of June, 1986, a legend of Bray was born,' opens the song, which is something of a rabble-rouser. 'As a daughter of Pete, she would never be beat - Katie Taylor would go all the way.' Coddle combines a mix of Irish traditional and contemporary music as well as a slice of American folk and bluegrass. Niall Cloak, Paul Doyle and Linda Ferguson form the band, which includes fiddles, whistles, guitars and a bodhrán.
