A chilly Christmas dip
The annual Christmas Day swim in Greystones proceeded as usual, despite a few showers of rain.
Swimmers were coming and going from early morning to late afternoon, but the bulk of the activity was at around midday.
The swim is a tradition of uncertain origins in Greystones, with the community having come together at the shoreline each year since the 1970s.
This year, members of the Dempsey family took the plunge in memory of the late Laura Dempsey, who passed away in 2017.
Deputy Stephen Donnelly was among those who decided to brave the waters, sadly not among those who chose to don a onesie for the day.
There was a collection under way on the day for the Peter McVerry Trust and many locals gave very generously to the homeless charity.
Those who chose not to take a dip were on hand with dry towels and hot drinks for those emerging from the chilly sea.
