The Avoca Haiti Support Group recently presented Sister Anne Crawley with the proceeds from their fundraisers.

The cheque for €6,000 was the culmination of another year of fundraising efforts, including a raffle at the Avoca Recycling Centre, a concert at the Woodenbridge Hotel, a coffee morning at Snugborough, chair yoga at Arus Lorcain, and a raffle at O Domhaua Rua Pub Pub in Redcross, together with other generous donations.

This year, An Garda Siochana kindly donated €5,000 to build a house for a person or family. Local funds will be used to build a house while the remainder will be put towards sponsoring the children in school and other costs.

Sister Anne Crawley has now built 300 homes and plans to build a bakery to provide other work opportunities for people in the area in the coming year. Some of those she cared for after the earthquake ten years ago are now training as apprentices.
