Man passes away after sea rescue
A man who was pulled from the water at Wicklow Harbour on Sunday morning passed away a short time later.
The alarm was raised just before 11 a.m. when reports were received of a man appearing to be in difficulty in the water at the back of the harbour.
Wicklow RNLI's inshore lifeboat was launched and soon located the man and pulled him into the vessel and brought back to the harbour. CPR was administered by the crew members of a waiting ambulance but it is understood that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim is believed to have been a foreign national aged in his late sixties or early seventies.
The Gardai were contacted and are not treating the incident as suspicious.
