Purple House to host a fundraising Morocco trek

Purple House Cancer Support is looking for participants to take part in the experience of a lifetime on a trek in Morocco this September.

The trek is from September 27 to October 4. The sponsorship target is €2,000 and there are travel expenses of €1,200 which must be paid by participants outside of sponsorship raised.

The trek takes place in the valley of Ait Bougmaze, which is also known as the Happy Valley. Along the way, the walkers will meet the locals who are busy at this time of the year harvesting their apples and get the chance to taste these delicious fruits.

On the walk, participants can enjoy stunning views over the M'Goun range and the arid mountains around the valley.

The trek will be led by experienced mountains leader, Nabyl, who comes from the Atlas Mountains.

This is an easy to moderate trek with about five hour of walking each day and an average height gain of 300-500m. Luggage will be transferred on mules led by local horsemen and a cook will prepare magnificent dishes flavored with Moroccan spices.

There will be an information training walk on Tuesday, June 5, at 7.30 p.m. Registration is now open at eventbrite.ie.
