High standards set at final

Wicklow Community Games held the county finals in art, handwriting and model making in Dunlavin.

The standard was excellent and the judges had the unenviable task of picking the winners of each age group. In some cases, it was so close the judges awarded joint fourth.

The winners were as follows: Under-10 Boys Handwriting: Nevil Subhash, Rathdrum (1st); Rian Elliot, Lakeside (2nd). Under-10 Girls Handwriting: Sarah Chambers, Lakeside (1st); Emily Alexander, Aughrim/Annacurra (2nd). Under-12 Boys Handwriting: Sean Byrne, Aughrim/ Annacurra (1st); Trevor Browne Ennis, Lakeside (2nd). Under-12 Girls Handwriting: Alaoise Geraghty, Arklow (1st); Sophie Doyle, Baltinglass (2nd). Under-8 Boys Art: Adam Geoghegan, Lakeside (1st); Jack Birchall, Westside (2nd). Under-8 Girls Art: Ella Kelly, Arklow (1st); Cara O' Reilly, Lakeside (2nd).

Under-10 Boys Art: Darragh Egan, Baltinglass (1st); Aidan Burke, Lakeside (2nd). Under-10 Girls Art: Andrea Doyle, Ashford/Glenealy (1st); Annamay Fitzpatrick, Lakeside (2nd). Under-12 Boys Art: Ben McGrath, Lakeside (1st); Daniel Smith, Lakeside (2nd). Under-12 Girls Art: Mya Davis, Ashford/Glenealy (1st); Anna Jerofejeva, Lakeside (2nd). Under-14 Boys Art: Evinn Nolan, Westside (1st); James Lambert, Aughrim/Annacurra (2nd). Under-14 Girls Art: Mia McGrath, Lakeside (1st); Mary McElhinney, Ashford/Glenealy (2nd). Under-12 Girls Model Making: Ellana Quinn, Westside (1st); Shona Ni Thoibin, Lakeside (2nd).

The gold medal winner in each event will go forward to represent Wicklow at the national finals in Limerick.
