Catholic Girl Guides based in Loughlinstown and Dun Laoghaire called in to Purple House in Bray last week with a gift of care packages.

Unit leader of Loughlinstown Catherine Lenihan said that the organisation had decided to do comfort packs for cancer care as their charity.

Units all over Leinster participated, putting packs together for their local centres.

Some of the members of the Loughlinstown unit come from Bray. The packs included things like socks, coffee kits with marshmallows, sweets, magazines, hand lotions, tissues and more. The guides had done research on what might help make things a little easier for someone going through treatment.

Catherine said that there are around 2,000 girls in the eastern region, and 65 in Loughlinstown, ranging in age from four to 18. She said that there are eight leaders, and more are always welcome to help out with the unit.
