Five festive fundraisers deliver almost €3,000 for GOAL
Five separate events around the Garden County raised almost €3,000 for GOAL over the festive period.
Communities around the county set aside the turkey and the mince pies to pull on their walking and running shoes and complete a GOAL Mile to help raise funds for the Irish aid agency.
The first event took place at Gaelcholáiste na Mara on December 21 and raised almost €500.
On Christmas Day, a GOAL Mile took place at Ashford GAA grounds and raised almost €1,000, while another was held at Blessington Community College and raised over €1,000.
On St Stephen's Day, it was the community of Askinagap that put their best foot forward and raised almost €500 for GOAL.
The final GOAL Mile took place at Murphy's Hotel in Tinahely on New Year's Day and raised €500 for the charity.
This was the 37th year of the GOAL Mile and, nationwide, over €240,000 was raised to support GOAL's overseas development programmes. GOAL is currently implementing food, water, healthcare, emergency response and other programmes across 13 countries in Africa, the Middle East and The Caribbean.
