The children of St Mary's and St Gerard's National School in Enniskerry raised their latest Green Flag, before finishing up for the summer.

They were joined by past pupil Cllr Rory O'Connor and Cllr Melanie Corrigan for the special event. Both members of the council congratulated the school.

'It was an honour to be invited to raise the green flag,' said Cllr O'Connor. 'The school has progressed so much in environmental action since I first attended.

'I strongly believe without my involvement as a kid in obtaining the first green flag for the school, I would be a completely different person to this day, as I would have never been educated in what's happening to our environment, and this would of lead me to never organising the Bray climate strike and reduce my push to keep Wicklow the garden of Ireland,' he said.
