Drink driving less frequent in Wicklow

A RECENT survey by AA Roadwatch would appear to indicate that drink driving could be less prevalent in Wicklow than in much of the rest of the country.

Only 0.5% of AA members polled in Wicklow claimed it was very common to encounter a drunk driver, compared to the national statistic of 1.2%. Furthermore, 95.5% of drivers in Wicklow admitted to never having driven while drunk, higher than the nationwide average of 93.4%. The number of drivers in Wicklow who claim to have never encountered an inebriated person behind the wheel (14.2%) was lower than the same figure for the country as a whole (17.4%).
