The meet-ups are 7pm in the Brockagh Centre on Tuesday nights for weigh-in, short talk and walk - (note there is a 1 euro charge on Tuesday nights) and on Saturday mornings at 10 am either at the Visitor Centre in Glendalough or Brockagh Centre. People welcome to join at any time. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing, wear a High Visibility reflective jacket/ vest and bring a torch (for night walk).

The Laragh-Glendalough 6km Trail Run-Jog-or-Walk will take place on Saturday 15th March at 10 a.m. The run will be a loop through Laragh woods beginning at the rear of Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa and the Brockagh Resource Centre, going out the Wicklow Way and returning via the bottom trail of the beautiful Brockagh mountain to Laragh for coffee and cake.

It promises to be a fun day for all levels of runners and walkers but be prepared to get a bit muddy. All monies from registration and refreshments will fund Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa from where the race with start and finish. This trail run promises to be a fantastic event that will bring together the community and the walkers and runners that frequent the Wicklow mountains.

Book into our 4 week online learning course this week. Learn lots of useful online fun and practical things to do. Friendly, pressure free environment, for free if you are over 65 years and €15 if you are under.

We welcome back all our previous Online Students that did Benefit 3 or Benefit 4 courses.


This full day course will teach you the basic techniques required to make a traditional skib/potato basket to take home. The course will take place at the Brockagh Resource Centre on Saturday 8th March from 9.30 a.m. until 4.30 p.m.. Cost is €70 per person (materials and tools supplied).

If you have your own secateurs bring it along. There will be tea, coffee and biscuits provided, please bring your own packed lunch. No experience is required. Thanks to all the kids, parents,coaches and juvenile players for coming along to the juvenile award presentation on Saturday last. There are exciting and encouraging times ahead for the Newtown juvenile side headed up by juvenile chairman Shay Power who announced the 2013 season award winners:

Our year opened with the annual Mass and blessing of the sick last Wednesday. Sixty people attended where Fr Sean Smith presided. The mass was enhanced with the music being provided by Dick and Josephine. After Mass everyone enjoyed a cuppa and a chat. Many thanks to all who attended and a special word of thanks to Fr Smith Dick and Josephine.

We are meeting again this Wednesday 19th February in the community Centre Newtownmountkennedy. We hope to travel to The Mermaid Theatre on the 5th March to see Jane Eyre. New Members always welcome.



Ben Brady's Set Dancing continues every Wednesday night in the Mill Room, Kilcoole at 8pm.

Roundwood Ploughing Society are holding their annual Ploughing Match on Saturday 22nd February at 12.00 noon in Coolharbour, Roundwood.

Djouce Lady Captain Deirdre Carroll is planning on organising group golf lessons at Djouce Golf Club for ladies who have always thought they would like to try the game of golf.

The group lessons will be given by a golf professional and will cover all levels and also people who have never picked up a golf club before !

So ladies give golf a try and don't worry about not having any golf clubs the clubs you will need will be provided for the lessons. Golf is a great game come along and enjoy the fresh air and have fun. The plan is to hold the group lessons in early spring the total cost for four one hour lessons is €50.

The proposed stretch of road this year is more than a mile!! It starts from Roundwood Health Centre along the Annamoe Road to the bottom of Derralossary Church lane.

Set dancing is back in full swing in Kavanagh's lounge every Thursday night with music this week by CDs and by the O'Kane family for the remainder of the month. A pilgrimage to two shrines of Montreal/Grosse lle, St. Lawrence River and Shrine of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Mohawk Indian recently canonised. Then crossing the border to the United States to visit Mohawk birthplace of St Kateri and Niagra Falls.
