St Anne's Parish
Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne's Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except during July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannesparishshankill.com and then clicking onto video link.
St Anne's Parish Pastoral Council: The February meeting of the PPC took place last Monday night at 8 p.m. in St Anne's Resource Centre. Ideas and suggestions for the PPC to consider at their March meeting can be left into the parish office or in the Suggestion Box at the back of the church.

World day of the sick - This Sunday: Special Mass at 6 p.m. with Healing Prayers and Anointing of the sick.
Our Lady of Lourdes Novena: Next Monday we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The novena began last Sunday and copies of the novena are available on tables in the church.
JPII Youth Group: This group is for people aged 13 to 18 years who wish to meet new people, have fun and learn more about their faith. The next meeting will take place this Saturday at 7.30 p.m. in St Anne's Resource Centre.
Farewell to Rev'd Canon Fred Appelbe: On Thursday, February 21, the parish of St Anne's will bid a fond farewell to our good neighbour Rev'd Canon Fred Appelbe as he will retire from Ministry in Rathmichael Parish at the end of February. He has always been a very good friend to us in St Anne's and we will truly miss his presence in Shankill. We would like to invite you all to join us in St Anne's Resource Centre at 8 p.m. for some light refreshments, as we wish him all the best for his retirement.
'Jesus at the centre': This six-week formation programme takes place in St Anne's Resource Centre from Monday, February 18, to Monday, March 25, at 8 p.m. on Monday nights. Film Night: The February Film Night takes place in St Anne's Resource Centre at 7.30 p.m. on Friday, February 22, when the film being screened will be the MGM production of 'Ben-Hur;, directed by William Wyler, starring Charlton Heston, Stephen Boyd, and Jack Hawkins. The film won 11 Oscars including one for Best Actor. All welcome - admission free.
Last Saturday morning there was a large attendance at the February First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Association, in the Shankill Old Folks Association Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, at which the usual excellent selection of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs were on offer.
The March First Saturday Book Sale will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Shankill Old Folks Association Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, on Saturday, March 1, so make a point of calling into it during that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunity to pick up great reading material from the wide selection to choose from.
Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on that day. Photographs and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.
Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The parents and Toddler Group meets on Mondays from 10.30 a.m. to midday - all welcome. Musical parent and toddler sessions with Music Generation dlr for the 0-3 age group takes place on Mondays February 25 and March 25 from 10.30 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. Booking required.
Author and historian Fergus Mulligan will be the guest presenter for tonight's (Wednesday) 8 p.m. meeting of the Rathmichael Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and the surrounding area, in Rathmichael National School, Stonebridge Road at which he will speak about 'William Dargan - An Honourable Life' based on his biography of Dargan, the first to be published about this famous Irish railway engineer, developer and entrepreneur, who was responsible for the construction of the former Harcourt Street, Dublin-Bray line which formerly passed through Shankill. All welcome to attend - admission €4.
Those wishing to join the Rathmichael Historical Society can do at this meeting while members are reminded that annual membership subscriptions for 2019 fell due on January 1 and can be renewed at this meeting.

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne's Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne's Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. GAA Club notes
The juvenile Academy is back in action on Saturday at 10 a.m. indoors in St Laurence College, so why not give the Academy a try as the coaches are ready and the equipment is waiting and ready to be used, the cost is only €2 per child and there is no annual subscription.
Our men's adult footballers fielded two teams in the seven a side blitz organised by Cabinteely GAA Club which also had teams from Geraldine P Moran and Stare of Erin. There was a great morning of football.
There was another brilliant turnout of people for the second Operation Transformation walking group night and our club even got a mention on RTÉ TV Well done, everybody. The group meets every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at St Anne's Church. Please come along the group is open to both members and non-members alike. Bring a Hi - Vis top. Many thanks to Fr John and the parish committee for the use of the church grounds.
In the 'Chase the Ace' draw last Sunday week night in Brady's there was no jackpot winner - the €50 prize went to Des, Martin and Derek. Last week's jackpot was €1,750. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5 and are available from club members or in the pub.
