St Anne's Parish
Resource Centre Hours: St Anne's Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmation certificates or application forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificates and application forms can be processed.
Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne's Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except during July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannesparishshankill.com and then clicking onto video link.
Bethany Bereavement Group: Operates Drop-In Centre in St Anne's Resource Centre on the first Friday of each month at 10.30 a.m. The Bethany Bereavement Support Group is a voluntary ministry. The volunteers are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and grieving.
Bethany Bereavement National Bereavement Support for Adults: A five-week Bethany Bereavement Support Group programme will take place in St Anne's Resource Centre, Shankill, from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on the following dates in 2019 - Monday, January 14, Monday, January 21, Monday, January 28, Monday, February 4, and Monday, February 11, If you are feeling the pain of any loss at all, this series of meetings may offer support and consolation in a place where healing can begin. This is a completely free service provided by trained volunteers in the community. The Bethany Bereavement Group is a voluntary parish-based ministry who are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and anyone grieving any loss.
Habemus Chamber Choir Concert: The Habemus Chamber Choir, accompanied by Niall Kinsella, will give a concert in St Anne's Church at 7.30 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, Tickets €10 available at the door. Proceeds are in aid of St Anne's Parish Fund. Join us afterwards, for mince pies and mulled wine in St Anne's Resource Centre.

Secret Choir: New members needed for the Christmas Carol Service. The Secret Choir is inviting new singers and musicians to join them. Rehearsals take place each Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in the church. Please come along and join in.
Parish Christmas Fair this Sunday: This Sunday the St Anne's Parish Christmas Fair will take place in St Anne's Resource Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please support our main fundraising event of the year. Enjoy our Festive stalls: Wheel of fortune, Bottles, cakes, Crafts, Gifts, Hampers, Toys, Santa Claus. Please support our raffle. Raffle Tickets are available to buy from St Anne's Resource Centre, Monday to Friday. Book of six - €10 or €2 each. Appeal for Bakers: We are appealing to all bakers for homemade cakes for this Sundays Parish Fair which can be left into St Anne's Resource Centre on Saturday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. or on Sunday from 9 a.m. onwards.
Union of Catholic Apostolate (UAC) Advent Retreat: Takes place on Saturday, December 8, from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., in St Anne's Resource Centre concluding with evening Mass, led by Fr Derry Murphy. St Anne's Shankill Parish Assembly: Thank you to all who attended the recent Parish Assembly. We will be in contact with those who provided their details, after the next St Anne' Parish Pastoral Council meeting. Nativity Play: A Nativity Play will be presented during the Carol Service on Wednesday December December 12 at 8 p.m., and also during the Family Mass on Sunday, December 23, at 10.30 a.m. If your child is interested in taking part as an actor or narrator, please speak with Ceilia after the Family Mass this Sunday. Thank You for Your Support: Niamh Doyle, a young parishioner travelled to Uganda over the summer and sent a message of thanks to all the parishioners who supported the cake sale she arranged to raise funds. Niamh said: 'We know that we are blessed to have been given the opportunity to go on this project. It's hard to explain just how special our experience has been, but we know that the things we have learned will last a lifetime. Thank you for supporting the work of UCDVO in Nansana.'.

This Saturday morning the December First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Association, takes place in the Shankill Old Folks Association Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into it during that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunity to pick up some excellent reading material for over the Christmas/New Year period.
Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on that day. Photographs and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.
Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays - The library will be open this Friday but closed on Saturday. The parents and Toddler Group meets on Monday mornings (except bank holiday Mondays), from 10.30 a.m. to 11.20 a.m. The December meeting of the Book Club will take place in the library next Tuesday night from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. New members welcome. 'Scandinavian Wreath Making' with Aoife Munn will take place on Thursday, December 13, from 6.15 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. - this will be an interactive class where participants will all work on one wreath to ensure that everyone learns the skills needed to create their own - booking required.

Members of the Rathmichael Historical Society are asked to note that the scheduled Tuesday, December 4, talk has been deferred to Tuesday, December 11, and are also reminded that the Old Bray Society has published a special issue of the Bray Historical Record - 'First World War Special Issue' which recalls those from county Wicklow, who took part in this conflict. The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne's Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne's Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. GAA Club news
The juvenile academy is back in action every Saturday at 10 a.m. in our winter quarters indoors in the gym in St Laurence's College. Please come along and give the Academy a try. The cost is only €2 per child each week and there is no annual subscription. All equipment is provided free and qualified coaches are always in attendance as it's all about having fun with your friends. The last Academy session before the Christmas break is on Saturday, December 8, and we are hoping that a special visitor will drop in to see all the girls and boys.
Congratulations to our 20 new coaches on completing the Foundation Course.
The 'Chase the Ace' draw in Brady's is put on hold for the present in order to allow the pub to facilitate its Christmas programme of events. The jackpot stands at €1,450. The next draw will be held after Christmas. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5 available in the pub or from club members.

Christmas in the Village
Last Sunday afternoon the Shankill Business Group held the annual 'Christmas in the Village' in the Main Street from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. This event is hosted each year by Shankill local businesses and traders in co-ordination with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. There were numerous stalls including a fun fair, an animal petting farm, a reptile display, carnival rides and attractions, face painting, live music, and much much more.
Classical Music Club
The December meeting takes place at 7.45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, in the Shankill Old Folk Association Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, which will be an audio-visual treat focusing on Maria Callas, with documentary and performance extracts.
