Refurbishment of Holy Redeemer Church and Parish Centre: Thanks to all of you who have already contributed to this worthwhile project. Tesco Community Charity Tokens (Blue Tokens): The Holy Redeemer Refurbishment Fund has been allocated a Community Fund Collection Tube in Tesco Store, Vevay Road, Bray, and on Tesco Express, Quinboro Road, Bray, for eight weeks from Monday, August 19. St Peter's Cemetery, Little Bray: It is requested that visitors help to keep the cemetery tidy by bringing any rubbish home with them. There is strictly 'No Dumping' in force in any area of the cemetery. Your co-operation is appreciated.

Age Action for all older people: Age Action runs beginners courses in Computers, iPads and Tablets for older people who have little or no experience or for the absolutely terrified. All courses are free of charge. Classes are held in venues throughout Wicklow. To book a course call. 01 475 6989.

Wicklow Dementia Support Group: Meets in St Peter's Parish Hall every Monday from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Monday Club is a social club for people with memory loss and their family carers. Support activities, fun and outings. For more information contact 089 4286928.

Hospitality: Our Hospitality Teams are taking a well earned break from September Sunday, September 1, to Sunday, September 22, tea and Coffees will resume on Sunday, September 29, with Team A. Kids Club: Our Lady Queen of Peace Family Mass Group meet every Wednesday from 2.45 p.m. till 3.30 p.m. in the Villa Pacis in preparation for family friendly Mass starting in September. Children of all ages are welcome for gospel stories, arts and crafts, prayers and hymns.

QOP youth club

leaders in the Queen of Peace Adventure Club include Albert, Paul, Marty, Mike, Stephen, Elaine, and Emer. All are unpaid volunteers who give their time freely to the club. At the end of September Marty will be taking a well deserved one year break. During this time she will relax, and recharge her batteries before returning with even more energy and vigour. Martina is the third longest serving committee member and leader in the club, and her drive and enthusiasm will be missed while she is away. There is no waiting list and new members are welcome. Diving club

Congratulations to Shane O'Carroll, who has attained the One Star diver certificate. He was tested by Dave Kerr and he passed the test with the greatest of ease. Next is the training to acquire the Two Star qualification which will probably be before Easter next year. Shane is a very active member of Wicklow Aquanauts. Cualann Society

Monthly indoor lectures of the Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for the Bray and North Wicklow Area, will resume at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, in the Royal Hotel, Bray, when James Scannell will speak on 'The 1867 Bray Head Derailment' to the Bray Cualann Historical Society in the Royal Hotel, Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow. All welcome - admission €5.

In the meantime two lecture which may be of interest to members supporters of the Bray Cualann Historical Society next Tuesday night's 8 p.m. lecture by Gerard White about 'Researching WW1 military and naval records of Irish soldiers and sailors' to the Genealogical Society of Ireland in Dún Laoghaire Further Education Institute, Cumberland Street, Dún Laoghaire.

All welcome - contribution €3; and next Wednesday night's 6 p.m. lecture by Pádraig Yeates revealing 'Unequal treatment of IRA widows reflected the social hierarchy of the Free State' to the Old Dublin Society in the Conference Room of Dublin City Library and Archive, 138 - 144 Pearse Street, Dublin two. Bray 100

in August 1919 the Duke of Connaught Hospital, now St Patrick's National School, which catered for amputees and limbless soldiers was officially closed with the remaining patients under the charge of Capt. De Burgh Daly being transferred on Thursday, August 9, were transferred to the Orthopaedic Hospital, Blackrock.

The nurses who accompanied the patients to Bray Railway Station received three hearty cheers from the men as the train steamed out of the station. It was also announced Miss Ethel Hackett, Matron of the Princess Auxiliary Hospital, formerly the International Hotel and now Bray Bowl, had been awarded the Royal Red Cross (First Class).
