Aughrim: Community Games - Aughrim Annacurra Community Games will hold their AGM on Wednesday, October 9, in Aughrim Sports complex at 8.30pm.

We are always delighted to see new faces not to come on any committees but to listen and hear what we are all about. We have on average over 80 children taking part in various activities of Community Games. Please follow our FB page. To keep the games going we always need support and new volunteers. Look forward to seeing you.

Tai Chi/Qi Gong classes

Learn gentle flowing healing movements that relieve stress, improve flexibility and mobility. Tai Chi and Qi Gong Classes are commencing on Wednesday evening, September 4, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Aughrim Sports and Leisure Complex. The cost is €80 for a block of eight classes. Beginners Welcome.

East Coast Night Truck Run

A night truck run will be held on Saturday, October 5, at 7 p.m. This run is a fundraiser for Lauralynn Children's Hospice. Registration is from 3 p.m. in the Community Field, Aughrim. The run will leave the Community Field at 7 p.m. and will go through the village, then proceed to Arklow, Gorey, Carnew and back to Aughrim. This is for a very good cause and we hope people will come out to see the trucks and donate to the bucket collection.

There may be some traffic delays while truck run is going through and parking restrictions will also be in place between 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. There may be some parking restrictions on the Rednagh Road during the afternoon. A raffle will be held in O'Toole's Pub on the night of the run.

Tickets for the raffle are available in Byrne's Londis, in the field on the day of the run, in O'Toole's pub on the night or by contacting Denis Newsome at 087 2387216.

Active Retirement

From October 2019, at the monthly meetings, there will be a book for signing in and taking subs. This is necessary for Insurance purposes. The monthly sub will increase to €3. This goes towards buying gifts for speakers, tea, administration costs, postage etc. Line Dancing has started on Friday mornings from 11 a.m. to midday We are making a list of members phone numbers, if anyone is not happy to have their phone number circulated, please let us know.

Annual Threshing

Dunne's farm annual threshing and vintage day in aid of South Wicklow Hospice Home Care will take place this year on Sunday October13th at 1 p.m. at Muskeagh Tinahely. (Y14W882). All types of vintage cars and tractors are welcome. Dancing with Declan will be returning again this year. Tractor pulling, dog show, auction, raffle and many more side shows. A great family day out. Please come and support.

Lotto

The numbers 6, 8, 20 and 25 were drawn in this week's Aughrim Sports club lotto September 23 the jackpot was not won. There was no match three or jackpot winner. The jackpot is €2,100. The weekly lotto supports Aughrim camogie club, Aughrim GAA club, Aughrim Rangers Soccer club and Aughrim sports complex. People, who support the weekly lotto are lending support to the local sports clubs who are very much part of the community.

Annual Thanksgiving

The annual Thanksgiving service will be held in Ballinatone Church on Sunday next, October 6, at 3 p.m. everyone will be very welcome, refreshments served after service.

Town & Country Market

A warm welcome to all at Aughrim Town and Country Market, Rednagh Road, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy the buzz in the Pavilion Cafe as you catch up with friends over coffee and treats. Delicious brunches and light lunches are also on offer. Fresh local produce available, including organic fruit and vegetables, locally produced meat, eggs, preserves and fresh home baked bread and cakes. Music Under the Mountain

Sinéad O'Brien Dance School

Badminton

Walking and Trails Group

The Hollywood Walking and Trails Group meet every Tuesday evening in the lovely village of Hollywood at 7 p.m. outside Tutty's Pub.

Our regular walks include the Hollywood Forest, White Bog and the Hollywood Loop talking in part of St Kevin's Way to Church Mt. We also have Wellness Walks for those who like a level steady pace; these walks include the Hollywood Glen, part of the Forest walk and the Hollywood Heritage Trail.

Ideal walks for beginners and those who are building their fitness levels, or for people who simply want to walk for an hour and enjoy the flora and fauna along with the companionship of other walkers. Weekend walks take place once a month, the date and venue is confirmed by the team leaders in advance at our Tuesday walks.

We are very fortunate to have four experience team leaders available to guide our walks. Alan and Trina Burke and John and Ann Fitzgerald are very familiar with the trails and hill around Wicklow. They have extensively study St Kevin's Way behalf of the Hollywood Community Forum, their feedback has be invaluable to the upgrading and improvement work being undertaking on this important Pilgrim Path.

The Hollywood Walking and Trails Group welcomes all age groups interested in walking, our philosophy is 'We don't stop walking because we are grow old; we grow old because we stop walking'.

We also encourage families to come on our walks, children and teenagers less than 18 years under parent supervision and any organisations and clubs who would enjoy an evening out walking.

Currently we don't have a joining fee so come along and enjoy the benefits of walking, getting fit, meeting new people and more important being part of all Hollywood has to offer, a connection with nature to rebalance ones equilibrium in this busy world, beautiful village, delightful scenery, community sprite and pride of place.

Ladies' GAA Super Draw

As part of a massive fundraising initiative Tinahely Ladies' GAA Club are holding a Super Draw with the top prize of a brand new Hyundai i10 car. Tickets cost €100 and are limited to 400 in total. There is also €2,000 worth of other prizes to win. Tickets are on sale now from members of the Ladies Committee and club players. The draw for the prizes will take place in Murphy's Hotel, Tinahely on October 26.

Fundraiser Table Quiz

Please support the upcoming fundraising table quiz for the Coláiste Bhríde Student Concert Band's trip to France. The quiz will take place in the Little Moon, Coolboy on Friday, October 4, at 8.30 p.m. Cost for adults €10 and €5 for students. There will also be a raffle on the night.
