Ashford: Community Games. Congratulations to the under-13 indoor soccer boys who are county winners and will go forward to Leinster with their next game away to Dublin the winner of this game home to Kildare.

Yoga Classes

GAA News

The club would like to thank most sincerely Paul Phelan from the Meath Arms for his generous sponsorship of a set of jerseys for our adult football team. The Phelan family have long been associated with the club and currently Patrick and Conor feature on our adult team.

Congratulations to Sam Carroll, Alex Kavanagh and Dermot Twomey, who represented the club on the Wicklow schools under-14 hurling team last Thursday.

Our next outing for the adult team in Division 3 of the league is against Ashford next Saturday, March 16, at home at 4 p.m. Please come along and support the team and hopefully we will get back to winning ways.

Thanks to all our club members who attended the Wicklow GAA Stewards course held last Saturday.

Active Retirement

For the St Patrick's Day parade, we meet at 11.15 a.m. outside the Church of the Sacred Heart. Please try to support and promote Active Retirement by coming along. Chair yoga continues on Tuesday, March 11, Our break away to the Royal Marine Hotel is on 19th - March 22 inclusive. Our thought for this month is the biggest lie I tell myself - 'I don't need to write it down, I'll remember it.'.

Lotto

The numbers 16, 22, 23 and 25 were drawn in this week's Aughrim Sports club lotto March 4 There was one match-three winner: Eilish Byrne. The jackpot now is €6,150.

Community Games

Well done to all our badminton and chess players who travelled in the cold and snowy weather today. Congratulations to the under-15 boys and girls badminton who are the County Wicklow champions and will travel to Dublin to compete in the first round of Leinster. To our chess team first time competing you were great and lost to an experienced team. Thank you to our parents' coaches and volunteers for their support.

The County Wicklow Community Games Cross Country takes place on Sunday, March 31, in Avondale Park with registration a 10.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. start. It is for all children attending under-six to under-16.

Please let your coach and Fiona Shannon know that you are interested in entering as we need to register every child online. There is a €2 entry fee per child to be given to a coach that morning. Fiona Shannon needs to know by Friday, March 22, call her at 087 2218366.

Cross Country/Mixed distances

Under six. 200m under-eights 300m under-10s 400m under-12s 600m under-13s 1200m under-14s 800m.

Under-16s 1600m then the marathon 2km is ‪on March 31‬ in Avondale too.

Town and Country Market

A warm welcome to all at Aughrim Town and Country Market, Rednagh Road, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy the buzz in the Pavilion Cafe as you catch up with friends over coffee and treats. Delicious brunches and light lunches are also on offer.

St Patrick's Day parade

Now it is time to book you place in the St Patrick's Day parade in Aughrim starting from Tinakilly Bridge at 11.15 on Sunday, March 17, The parade is open to floats, walking groups, vintage cars and vintage tractors, there are prizes for the best entries.

The theme of the parade is the Four Seasons to give a suggestion for original outfits and displays. Shop owners are encouraged to decorate their shop fronts to create festive surroundings and win the Best Shop front prize. Application forms for the parade are available from the Pharmacy, telephone 0402 36655.

Defibrillators for our community

Calling upon residents of our community to attend an Open Public Meeting to discuss the merits of supplying & installing a number of Defibrillators at strategic locations throughout the local area. There is no person immune to Cardiac Arrest, it can happen to anyone at any time.

If you are interested in attending this meeting, getting involved on a working group, helping out with fundraising, or even expressing your opinions & ideas, please come along. This meeting will take place in Jack Whites Pub onThursday 4th April at 8 p.m.

Card drive

Whist partner Card drive will be on in Glenealy Village Hall this Thursday night, March 14. 45 card drive will be the following Thursday night March 21, both nights at 8.30 p.m. New players always welcome.

Indoor bowls

Indoor bowls is in Glenealy Village Hall every Wednesday night from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. just drop in any Wednesday night if you would like to start playing in door bowls great hobby for the winter nights. For more information contact 0404 44040.

Cottage market

The cottage market, located in the Glenealy Garden Centre takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. The market features local and organic vegetables, freshly baked breads, cakes and savouries, as well as jams, chutneys and tarts. Locally produced wild honey is on offer as are healthy Aloe products. Beautiful wood turned pieces, artisan gifts such as delicate dried flower crafts, tea, coffee and healthy snacks are also available. So come along, support local Wicklow producers and enjoy the atmosphere in our little cottage market.

Pilates classes

Pilates classes now running in Glenealy Village Hall on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Running from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Beginners/improvers and all ages welcome. seven weeks for €70 or drop-in-rate €12. Gymboree

Gymboree play and music classes continue every Tuesday mornings at 11 a.m. in Glenealy Village Hall. Saturdays playgroup

The Saturdays playgroup is back in Glenealy village on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to midday. Fun play for pre-school children and up. Cost is €3 per family.

ORGANIC HORTICULTURE COURSE QQI L5: Part-Time Training Course 26 weeks (2.5 days per week). Commences May 2019 - Ideal opportunity of a funded training programme aimed at individuals with an interest in gaining a recognised qualification and employment in Organic Horticulture/Gardening. Clara Ladies fundraiser

Clara Ladies will be holding a fundraiser in Lynams Hotel Laragh on March 15. Kick off the St Patrick's weekend with live music by Contraband (formally Beatclub) Doors open 8.30 p.m. Entrance €5, this is an over-18s event. Drink Promotions and excellent raffle prizes on the night, all proceeds go to Clara Ladies LGFA Club.
