Concentration are you ready, If so let's go.

What was the name of that game we played as children? I can't remember, but it will come to me.

How many times a day do you say, 'it will come to me?' or forget where you put something, someone's name, or even what someone just said to you?

Sometimes this is purely due to lack of concentration, lack of interest, not living in the moment, or because you're already thinking about the next thing.

Other factors that could affect concentration include diet, especially if your diet contains lots of processed or inflammatory foods.

Lack of sleep, depression, anxiety, or stress can affect concentration too.

Some medications can affect your cognitive function.

Many women have noticeable changes in memory during pregnancy and menopause Ageing too has to be considered even though some older people have better cognitive function than some half their age at times.

So what can you do?

Focus on what you're doing at any given time. Aim to have a wide and varied diet, include plenty of oily fish, berries (especially blueberries), and foods that contain B vitamins including nuts, seeds, and whole grains.

Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, the more variety of colours the better. Try one tablespoon of coconut oil in your porridge, follow this with a small glass of blueberry juice-small changes could make a difference.

Supplements to master your mind:

Vitamin B12, B5, B6, Folic Acid, and Zinc are considered essential vitamins for cognitive function.

DHA found in fish oils is something I always I think of as food for the grey matter. Choline is another important food for the brain.

Irish made Mastermind, from Revive Active, contains all these nutrients in one straightforward supplement. It's suitable from age 16 years upwards to help when studying for exams, or people like me, for everyday mental performance, and nervous system function.

I have taken Mastermind in the past and have found it extremely helpful; I guess it's time to start taking it again. I will see if I can remember the name of the game without asking anyone!
