Wicklow resident Martina Durac has produced and directed new series for TG4 called An Bhoirinn.
Phoenix Films' new four-part series on the Burren explores its unique landscape with its custodians, the community of local Burren people and those who came to visit the area and ended up living there.
Martina helped establish Phoenix Films to pursue several documentaries on film.
An Bhoirinn was a personal project for Martina as her father hailed from Clare and she spent many childhood holidays roaming around all the places that now feature in these programmes.
The four-part series started airing on Wednesday, May 13. Among those interviewed for the series include twin sisters, an instrument maker from Dublin who moved just outside Kinvara, a German fisherman who made the Burren his home, local farmers and a married couple raising four children on the edge of the Burren. They bring viewers on a journey through the seasons and their lives over a period of one year.
