The Parkview Hotel in Newtownmountkennedy was a hot bed of grace and style on Friday night as part of a fashion organised to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Theresa Martin hosted the event which also featured a performance by tenor Darren Mooney who made a return to his home town of Newtown.

Darren lends his support to many local events and fundraisers, including a fundraising concert in 2017 to help raise funds towards the restoration works which took place at Kilmurray Church.

Local boutiques and fashion outlets provided most of the outfits for the night, while recognisable faces from the local community strutted their way up and down the cat walk. Staff from the Parkview were also involved, with general manager John and receptionist Avril among the models taking part.

Local students also showcased the stunning outfits they entered into the Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture competition, whereby young designers in second level education use everyday junk materials to create striking works of wearable art or fashion.
