Number of birdwatching events in the Garden County lined up for the New Year
Faith Evans presents 'Wicklow's wonderful wetlands' at the Glenview Hotel on Tuesday, January 8.
It will be the first event of the New Year organised by the Wicklow branch of BirdWatch Ireland and starts at 8 p.m.
Faith will provide an entertaining evening of exploration through Wicklow's wonderful wetlands. Wetlands are among the most biodiversity rich habitats on earth and we are lucky enough to have an important wetland complex stretching along the east coast of Ireland.
2019 may have only just started but further events for the year ahead are already planned for the coming months. On Saturday, January 19, there will be an outing to the East Coast Nature Reserve. The meeting point is at the railway crossing at the end of Sea Road, Newcastle at 10 a.m.
The Wicklow County Bird Race will take place on either Saturday, February 9 or February 16. Get in touch with details if you want to take part.
On Tuesday, February 12, Niamh Fitzgerald of BirdWatch Ireland presents 25 years of the Irish Wetland Bird Survey. Starting at 8 p.m. in the Glenview Hotel, she will describe status and trends of our wintering waterbirds.
A trip to North Bull Island takes place on Saturday, February 23, Meet at the causeway at 10 a.m..
