There was magic and mischief filling the air at Whale Theatre over the past days as the Dry Rain Theatre Company presented 'The Queen Who Cancelled Christmas'.

Written and directed by local playwright David O'Brien, The Queen who Cancelled Christmas followed feathered friends, Robin (played by Ciaran Coogan) and Swan (played by Emma O'Brien) as they embarked on a daring adventure through the snowy forest to try and stop the kingdom's naughty Queen (played by Tara Nixon O'Neill) from cancelling Christmas.

Children from the age of three and their families enjoyed the production, with original music by Irish composer Donal Rafferty.

Playwright David O'Brien said that the show appealed to the child in everyone, as it contained the perfect mix of fun, suspense and Christmas magic.

The naughty Queen had presented herself to the children of Greystones already, with an appearance at the turning on of the Christmas lights last month.

The performance was an extremely colourful family show, which took place last Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with two performances each day.
