Local postman and nun share stories
A Wicklow nun and a postman both feature in a new book entitled 'Irish Working Lives'.
Despite work accounting for so much of our waking lives, it is rarely something we reflect on. In this new book, Marie Louise O'Donnell seeks to celebrate the contribution of those whose vocations and careers are the bedrock of a thriving society.
As a broadcaster Marie Louise has had the privilege of spending 'work time' and 'thought time' with a broad array of individuals across the country, gaining a unique insight into their particular occupation and learning about what inspires or motivates them. Among those she has spoken to for the book are Monica Lawless, a Carmelite nun at the Monastery in Delgany, and postman Brendan Hughes hails from Ashford.
These are all inspiring and engaging encounters as told by Marie Louise O' Donnell in her own distinctive and inimitable style, the detail and delight present in every moment and every different personality.
Each story is accompanied by stunning images by the award-winning photographer, Eric Luke.
The book is on sale now, priced at €24.99.
