Students from Junior and Youth Musicals Theatre School in Bray will return to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for Puccini's opera Tosca in March.

For these lucky teenagers it will be their fourth opera in the Dublin Theatre - having performed in two separate productions of Carmen and La Boheme.

In Tosca they will join members of the Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir to sing the superb 'Te Deum' chorus in act one. Also joining the students will be 12 male actors who are a mix of past pupils, parents and friends of Junior Musicals.

Their roles will include servants, guards, priest, notary, soldier, executioner and more.

Local lady Louise Masterson, who is the musical director of Junior Musicals, advertised for the 12 male extras through the theatre school and was thrilled with the rapid response. Celine Byrne will play the starring role on March 14, 16 and 18, and Maria Litke the Russian star will perform the role on March 15 and 17. The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will make this opera truly joint Irish/Russian collaboration.
