Honor Heffernan on song in Wicklow
Honor Heffernan and Trevor Knight will bring their talents to the Wicklow stage twice in the coming months.
Singer and actress Heffernan and composer/keyboard player Knight will present their new cabaret/speakeasy-style show 'The Whistling Girl' at the Courthouse Arts Centre in Tinahely at 8.30 p.m. on Friday, October 13. Tickets, which are available from the Courthouse, cost €16 (€14 concession).
Knight has transformed the poems of Dorothy Parker into songs, using her witty, droll and sometimes heart rending lyrics which are uniquely interpreted by Heffernan. They will be backed up by their talented band includes Garvan Gallagher on bass, Tom Jamieson on drums, Ed Deane on electric guitar, Ciaran Wilde on saxophone and Bill Blackmore on horns.
On Saturday, December 9, the group will hit the stage at the Hot Spot Music Club in Greystones to present an exciting evening of music from 'The Whistling Girl' interspersed with songs by writers such as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Brecht and Weill , Diamanda Gallas and Peter Green.
