Some Blessington based dancers impressed at the An Comhdhail Irish Dance Leinster Championships held over the past two weekends in CityWest.

In the team section, under the direction of teachers, Angela Brien, Michelle Brien and Lisa Deane, were local dancers from the Angela Brien School of Irish Dance, who won both the Mixed Senior Ceile over 15 and the Mixed 6 Hand under 11.

The school is based in Blessington in County Wicklow and Clane, Caragh and Prosperous in County Kildare.

In the solo section, the current two time World Champion Colm Brien, U16, added another Leinster title to his collection. Colm is Angela's son and has been a pupil at the school since aged only three.

Michael Courtney, U14, was another of the Blessington club member who placed in the Open Championship.
