Celebration of art and nature for all
A new Nature Writing Festival taking place in Glencree will feature a weekend filled with readings, conversations, workshops, trails and a finale concert.
The Shaking Bog takes place from Saturday, June 22 to Sunday, June 23 and includes a diverse range of events celebrating nature and writing.
Some world renowned artists will be participating at the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, Fighting Words Wicklow and Knockree Hostel, such as the award-winning writer and farmer John Lewis-Stempel.
Other highlights include the wonderful and much celebrated poet Pascale Petit, local poet Paul Durcan, the highly acclaimed and versatile author Carlo Gebler and superstar children's author of Darkmouth fame Shane Hegarty. A number of different workshops have also been lined up as part of the festival programme.
The Shaking Bog draws to a close on Sunday, June 23 with a finale concert called 'Shaking it Out' taking place at St Kevin's Church, Glencree Centre at 7 p.m.
Tickets are €20 or €16 with a concession.
Music will be interwoven with personal readings of favourite extracts of nature writing, featuring the talents of Liam O'Maonlai, Wicklow's songstress Mary Coughlan, writer John Lewis-Stemple, The Square Pegs blues band, Garden designer and broadcaster Diarmuid Gavin, singer Flo McSweeney, poet Katie Donovan, The Fugato Quartet and more.
