An application has been made for 208 residential units at lands on the Southern Cross Road.

The developer, 1 Southern Cross Lands Limited, is seeking permission from An Bord Pleanála for a strategic housing development.

1 Southern Cross Lands was also granted planning permission in March for a supermarket on the lands. An appeal made by Bray Retailers Group was subsequently withdrawn.

The site is bounded to the south by the Southern Cross Road, to the west by Ard na Greine and Heatherwood and to the north by Mountainview Drive, with vacant lands to the east.

The application is for a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses, one, two and three-bed duplex apartments, one and two-bed apartments, and a neighbourhood centre. The centre will be adjacent to the planned supermarket and will include three retail units, a creche, and four community units including a youth services centre and a health care unit.

Submissions can be made to An Bord Pleanála for a period of 5 weeks.

Planning applications for housing developments of more than 100 units can now be made directly to An Bord Pleanála. The new type of application is part of Rebuilding Ireland to speed up the planning application process.
