Marathon man Paul puts in a Savage display

After defying atrocious weather conditions to compete in the Hamburg Ironman on in late July Glenmore athlete, Paul Savage produced another fine display to the finish the Derry Half Marathon in 1:25:14 on Sunday.

Elsewhere Shane Lynch competed in The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc Ultramarathon. (UTMB) on the 30th Saturday. This event follows a spectacular route through France, Italy and Switzerland, in the heart of the massif, with the most unique beautiful alpine summits.

It is widely regarded as one of the most difficult foot races in Europe, and one of the largest with over two thousand starters.

Shane competed in the Courmayeur Champex Chamonix (CCC) event 101km and achieved 164th position, with over two thousand elite trail athletes taking part.

Glenmore athelete Sarah Dooney (was presented with the beautifully crafted Ciaran Gormley shield by Ciaran himself on achieving first Glenmore AC female over the finish line in the very popular Carlingford 5k road race on last month.

Juvenile training starts back on Tuesday 3rd September at 7pm. All welcome.
