The seniors' last league game of the season was marred by an injury to Micheál McCabe who suffered a dislocated elbow with only minutes left to play.

The seriousness of the injury meant a premature end to the game, with Wolfe Tones the winners. Thanks to all those who attended Micheál at the pitch, including the Wolfe Tones physio and mentors. We hope the injury was not as bad as it looked and wish Micheál a very speedy recovery.

We are holding a 'Race Night' fundraiser this coming Friday at 8.30pm in Howe's Bar. A great night guaranteed!

Underage training now takes place at the Top Field at 6.30 on Thursday evenings, and we ask all parents/guardians to use the car park at the changing rooms and walk the children up to their underage groups.

Well done to the 'Hill/O'Mahony's/Piarsaigh combination who won the recent Minor Division 3 League title.

Our Annual Golf Classic takes place in Ballymascanlon on Saturday August 31st and some tee times are still available.

Dundalk Gaels

Our hopes of making a quick return to senior league football remain alive after last weekend's defeat of Kilkerley Emmets in the final series.

We finished in third place and have qualified for a promotion semi-final with O'Connell's. Clan na Gael and St Mochta's play in the other semi-final and the winners of both meet to decide the team to go up to the Cardinal O'Donnell along with St Fechin's.

We are also in with a chance to play senior championship next season. Our relegation semi-final with Sean O'Mahony's is this Friday night under lights in Haggardstown. A win would leave us safe, but if beaten there'll be another chance in a game against either O'Connell's or St Joseph's.

Our juniors play in the championship this evening (see fixture list for details), and they, like the seniors, would appreciate support.

The lotto jackpot has reached €18,800, and tickets for this Tuesday night's draw are on sale at Grant's Newsagents, Dublin Street, or from any committee member. They are also available online, costing €2 each, two for €3 or three for €5.

Last week's numbers were 2, 5, 15, 19 and the four match-three winners were Niall O'Callaghan, Rosemary Loughran, Shane O'Shaughnessy, Frankie Watters.

Sympathy is extended to the family of former club player Joe McDonagh, Ballybarrack, who died last week. The club was represented at his funeral, which took place in Knockbridge.

Naomh Malachi

Naomh Malachi GFC invite you to come along to the clubrooms on Friday August 23rd at 9pm, as we commemorate our championship winning teams of '79 and '09.

It has been 40 years and 10 years respectively since these two teams made the breakthrough for our club and secured their places in the history books of Naomh Malachi GFC and Louth football.

The team from '79 made all of County Louth sit up and take note of our small club as they broke into the Intermediate grade, while the boys from '09 produced what was surely one of the most dramatic finishes to a Louth county final to gain our third and most recent elevation to the Senior football ranks.

Please come along on Friday 23rd to join us in our celebrations. There will be music and refreshments and a great night is guaranteed!

The Naomh Malachi senior team had a disappointing result last Saturday evening against Lann Léire at home in Páirc Naomh Malachi in the League Division 3A game. The poor weather conditions did not favour the local lads as they went down by nine points.

The U-16 Kilkerley/Naomh Malachi team played St Fechin's last Wednesday in the Páirc Naomh Fichin grounds in the Division 2A knockout game. Despite some great efforts by the local side, the St Fechin's team managed to come out on top.

Underage training for Under-6s to Under-12s continues this Tuesday at 7pm in the Naomh Malachi pitch and every Tuesday at that time.

Naomh Moninne

Our U-8 hurlers took part in a very entertaining blitz at Ballygassan recently where they played games against Naomh Fionnbarra/St Anne's, Knockbridge A and St Fechin's. The Moninne panel was Orla McCourt, Ewan McCourt, Grace Cairns, Conal Cairns, Cian Maloney, Eoin Maloney, Dillon Heaney, Reece McGuinness Smith and Callum McGuinness Smith.

On the same night our senior team beat town neighbours Pearse Og by 4-22 to 2-6 in the Armagh League at DkIT. The Moninne team and scorers were: Donal Connolly, Donal Lee, Chris Lennon, Stephen Ryan, Mattie Fee, Oisin Drumm, Paul Challoner, Padraic Fallon 2-1, Tadhg Moore 1-2, Darren Geoghegan 0-7, Feidhelm Joyce 0-3, Graham Harrington, Stephen Rafferty 1-1, Barry Doyle, Odran Loughran 0-1.

Darren Geoghegan put in a good performance against strong opposition from around the country as he represented the club and county at the Senior Poc Fada na hEireann up at Annaverna on the Cooley Mountains last Saturday week. The club would like to thank all the adult and juvenile members who helped out on the mountain on the day.

Sean O'Mahony's

Congratulations to the Sean O'Mahony's/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdalshill U-18s who won the Division 3A Final against Geraldines by six points in Darver.

There were some great performances all round the field. The defence had to work hard to stop the Gers finding the net late in the game, while both our midfielders were immense. Cody McAreavey kicked five wonderful points from play, Dean Carroll popped up from defence to raise two white flags when badly needed and Mark Agnew bagged 2-1 from the corner.

Well done to all involved - the win is just reward for hard work by the players and coaches all year.
