Future looks bright for Glyde after U-8 blitz

THE sun shone in Tallanstown for Glyde Rangers' Under-8 blitz where the club welcomed Lannleire, Mattock Rangers and St Fechin's and all the teams played each other.

They were all great games to watch, showing the level of skill is very high at this young age, and the teams were very evenly matched.

The catching, soloing, and passing in midfield was excellent, the awareness of the players in both forward positions and defence was great, and in the forward line the hand-passing and scoring was brilliant.

Glyde Rangers: Ellie Smyth, Oran Mattews, Darren McKeever, Mark McKeever, Adam Robinson, Ewan Kelly, Lee Byrne, Aaron Myles, Abby Myles, Kevin Tether, Orla Haughey, Caitlin Myles.

•Elsewhere, Sean McDermott's Under-8s enjoyed games against St Kevin's and Kilkerley at Philipstown. The first match was against a strong Kilkerley outfit and the backs really had a hard day. Donnacha and Daniel did very well in goals, whilst Nathan and Shane shone in the backs.

The second game against the Kevin's was also a tight affair, but this time Ronan and Charlie did well in the backs and Jamie and John were strong in the middle. The forwards also did well, with the twin towers (Tomas and Daniel) firing the points and Cathal in support.

The Seans also swelled the ranks of the mascots on the day, with Emma supported by Rachel, Lauren and Caoimhe.

SEAN MCDERMOTT'S: Ronan Kerley, Jamie McCourt, Cathal McCourt, Charlie Bagnall, Nathan Commins, John McGuinness, Tomas Devlin, Shane Finlay, Emma Commins, Daniel Commins, Donnacha McCourt and Rachel Bagnall.
