Well done to three of the Bellurgan United under 14 squad who were recently invited to train with the Blackpool FC Youth Academy in England.

Cian Connor, Quinn Ryan and Ryan O'Kane travelled to Blackpool last week to complete two days training with the Youth Academy. Activities covered over the two days included Futsal, Technical Skills drills, fitness drills and matches.

Feedback from the Blackpool coaches was particularly positive with the Blackpool staff specifically impressed with how easily the three lads got involved in the activity, from an ability level they fitted right in with the other players and their individual technical ability.

During down time from the football training the boys travelled with their parents to Preston North End FC where they were warmly greeted by recent Dundalk heroes Daryl Horgan and Andy Boyle. After a good and encouraging chat with the two former Dundalk players the travelling Bellurgan party were able to sit in on a PNE training session and observe the former Dundalk players in action with their new club.

Before they left they also managed to meet and get a few photos with other former greats Kevin Kilbane, Didi Hamann and Irish Goalkeeper Alan Kelly now with the PNE coaching staff.

Overall a fantastic couple of days for the three lads and a very valuable experience, a trip that will only encourage them to continue with the hard work and help them develop their footballing talent.

A special thanks to the three lads fathers who accompanied them on the trip and also to Kalkeran Kierans who worked with both Bellurgan and Blackpool to facilitate the trip.
