Make hay while the sun is shining
Dundalk and the entire border region really should be making hay while the sun is shining and that is certainly the case at present with the value of the Euro against Sterling very much in local traders favour.
Over the last number of months I have heard tales from various traders around town of shoppers from Newry and further north taking advantage of the exchange rate and making considerable savings on electrical and electronic goods, clothing and groceries.
Marketing and advertising money is valuable and the town's BIDS office has seen their funds diminish over the past number of years, but a PR programme to capitalise on this current advantage should really be in place.
We all know on the border, it can swing the other way.
